Through various opportunities, the Northern Texas PGA Foundation is striving to help educate, encourage and better prepare young professionals for a career in the golf industry. While the experiences may vary for each intern, the goal of our internship program is to cultivate future employees. Annually, the Northern Texas PGA hires more than 70 interns to assist with programming throughout the year.
The Northern Texas PGA, our Foundation and our Junior Tour have various internship opportunities throughout the year to help college students learn and gain hands-on experience in the golf industry. From conducting a junior golf tournament to helping instruct a summer camp, an internship with the NTPGA provides a wide variety of opportunities to learn and grow professionally.
The PGA Golf Management University Program is offered at 18 universities nationwide. Each participating university has specific program requirements, but one uniform requirement is the completion of internships within the golf industry. Whether these students are looking for a 3-month or a 7-month internship to fulfill their requirements, the Northern Texas PGA hires Professional Golf Management students throughout the year to foster further professional growth. After all, these students will be the future PGA Professionals that we serve.
After teaching the game of golf and providing scholarships to further their education, the Northern Texas PGA Foundation and Deloitte continue serving past Fairway to Success scholarship recipients by providing the opportunity to intern at our organizations. The internship provides additional experiences to further our recipients’ ability to achieve employment in golf, client services, or another industry altogether.
The PGA WORKS Fellowship provides the opportunity for a one-year, paid immersion in a PGA Section’s Foundation operations. This entry-level employment experience offers a taste of what a career in the golf industry can provide.
Thanks to our donors who feel passionately about their alma mater, we have developed a unique partnership with the University of Oklahoma and the University of Houston. Each year, the Northern Texas PGA internship program provides opportunities to students at these schools to intern with the Northern Texas PGA.
All of our internships are paid opportunities. If you are interested in helping students gain experience and prepare for their professional careers, please contact Austin Klinghagen for more details on how you can help assist with our internship program.
