The Northern Texas PGA Foundation is devoted to furthering The PGA of America’s efforts of becoming more inclusive to attract the increasingly diverse consumer population to the game, the business and golf’s workforce. Our flagship program for this initiative is Fairway to Success.
Fairway to Success is helping to impact and change the lives of young people in our community. The program is conducted at four DISD high schools and includes introducing students to golf and the life lessons of discipline, honor and integrity that are central to the game. In partnership with Deloitte, and through the assistance of our PGA Professionals, hundreds of high school students participate in a weekly after-school golf program each semester as well as a field trip to a local golf course for on-course play and experiences in golf operations. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to apply for multiple scholarships funded by Deloitte and the Northern Texas PGA Foundation that range from $5,000 to $20,000.
Fore Frisco is a new need-based scholarship program that aims to provide financial assistance to Frisco ISD seniors pursuing higher education. The program, launched in partnership with Omni Hotels & Resorts and the Northern Texas PGA Foundation, will award $80,000 in scholarships to four deserving students from Lone Star and Panther Creek High Schools.
Through a five-week golf and hospitality program at The Ronny Golf Park, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of golf and explore career opportunities in both golf and hospitality. The program will culminate in the opportunity to apply for one of four $20,000 scholarships. Upon completing the program, each scholarship winner will also be paired with a mentor from Omni PGA Frisco Resort.
Fore Frisco offers students the chance to develop valuable skills while receiving the support needed to pursue their academic and career goals. Winners will be announced in spring 2025.
The Northern Texas PGA Foundation and Deloitte annually select deserving students from four DISD schools to receive a $20,000 college scholarship and mentorship throughout college and beyond. These scholarships are based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, community involvement and financial need. Throughout the program's history, over $2,500,000 in scholarships has been awarded to 96 recipients.
In 2024, we awarded scholarships valued between $5,000 and $15,000 to 11 additional finalists not selected for a $20,000 scholarship. This additional funding would not have been available without the generosity of donors who believe in the value of an education and support our college scholarship pillar. In 2024, Fairway To Success awarded a total of $441,000 in scholarships.
After teaching the game of golf and providing scholarships to further their education, the Northern Texas PGA Foundation and Deloitte continue serving past Fairway to Success scholarship recipients by providing the opportunity to intern at our organizations. The internship provides additional experiences to further our recipients’ ability to achieve employment in golf, client services, or another industry altogether.
If you are interested in helping donate equipment, time and/or funding to enhance the Fairway to Success Program, please contact Mark Harrison at mharrsion@ntpga.com to learn about the opportunities. Thank you for your consideration.
